Welcome to the official home of the David J. Smith Golf Classic. While here, take a moment to learn about this prestigious tournament’s history. After viewing photos from past years I am sure you will be envisioning yourself donning the Classic Champion’s Jacket. In just three short years, this tournament has become a must-play event for those privileged invitees.
This year, the Tournament Committee selected Dayton, Ohio as the host city for the 2007 Classic. Dayton is the “Birthplace of Aviation” and home to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The city has a rich heritage of inventions and innovations, with more patents per capita than any other city in the nation. Some of these inventions include the cash register, the stepladder, microfiche, waterproof cellophane, pop top beverage cans, the movie projector, space food, parking meters, the aircraft supercharger, the automobile self-starter, gas masks, and the parachute.
The 2007 field promises to be the strongest in tournament history, so undoubtedly the next Champion must soar above his or her fellow competitors and navigate the eighteen grueling holes that await all competitors. Check back often to learn the latest news and information regarding this year’s tournament, and I personally look forward to welcoming you to Dayton for the 2007 Classic.
Sincerely,
David J. Smith
Chairman
